Our client was commissioned by the Russian Ilim Group to supply a new recovery boiler for the production plant in Ust-Ilimsk, Russia.
The Ilim Group, headquartered in St. Petersburg, is one of the world’s leading players in the pulp and paper industry. The group’s production plants are located in the Russian regions of Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The delivery and commissioning of the recovery boiler was a part of the “Big Ust-Ilimsk” project. The project, with an investment of about US$1 billion, aimed to increase pulp production at the mill by 130,000 tonnes per year and the capacity of the production plant from 550,000 to 1.5 million tonnes of finished products per year.
The new Ilim Group’s production plant will be commissioned in the second half of 2021.
In this project, the task of WR Logistics GmbH, one of the main business divisions of the WR Group, was to transport the recovery boiler to the plant in Ust-Ilimsk. The oversized boiler components were picked up by the WR Logistics from various regions around the world, prepared for the transportation and delivered to Russia.
For many years, the WR Group‘s specialists have been working with industrial manufacturers from all over the world, delivering complex multicomponent equipment to Russia and the EAEU. Different country-specific customs clearance requirements could be a challenge for on-time delivery of the equipment. However, the WR Group was successful in delivering the complete recovery boiler to the end operator in accordance with the delivery schedule and in compliance with all security conditions.
